When, in 1999, Malmaison Leeds opened its stylish bedrooms and cosmopolitan Brasserie and bar, it became a symbol for all that was most fashionable during the renaissance of this ‘cool capital’ of the north of England.
The hotel occupies a striking converted building, unchanged in external appearance since it was built as a Tram Depot in 1905. Located in the fashionable riverside area, it is just minutes from the city’s railway station and business district.
The hotel’s 90-seater Brasserie serves traditional and wholesome classic brasserie dishes under an impressive vaulted ceiling, while the ‘intimately serious’ bar with its cosy alcoves is buzzing by night and balmy by day.
Throughout all of its 100 newly refurbished bedrooms is Malmaison’s trademark attention to detail. There are flat screen TVs, DVD / CD players with a library of discs to borrow, moody lighting, serious wines and delectable nibbles. Monochrome bathrooms provide a stylish space for pampering, with their power showers, plentiful towels, romantic candles, and yummy toiletries to take away. Luxurious Egyptian cotton duvets and plump pillows ensure a great night’s sleep.
The semi-circular shaped main suite is pure drama. Called ‘The Depot’, it incorporates two plasma TV screens, a king size bed with privately curtained seating area, and a large centrepiece window.
Gymtonic provides guests with access to a small, but perfectly formed gym.
