Malmaison Glasgow occupies a striking hilltop building, which, from the outside, looks more like a classical temple than a hotel. The hotel gives an overwhelming sense of an intimate, welcoming cocoon, further enhanced by wool and velvet covered cosy modern chairs, sofas and chaise lounges, and softly playing music (possibly the ‘Sound Affects Malmaison’ CD). All bedrooms are individually decorated in Mal’s signature ‘classic contemporary’ style.
The Main Suite called The Big Yin, or ‘big one’, after local hero Billy Connolly is a masterpiece of serious fun. On entering, you are first struck by the scroll-top tartan bath, sitting on a raised platform of pebbles and sharing open-plan space with the living area. A separate bathroom houses side-by-side basins and ‘his ‘n’ her’ drench showers. The living area’s large wrap-round sofa provides ample lounging space, and the neighbouring four-poster bedroom is decked out in dark and moody shades. To add to the opulent atmosphere, guests of this suite are provided with a complimentary bottle of champagne on ice to greet them on arrival, while those checking in at evening will find the candles lit and music playing ..
Located on the lower ground level of the hotel is a Champagne Bar that leads into the Brasserie restaurant, which also has its own bar.
This has to be the perfect Glasgow Getaway!
