Located in the heart of the city, Mal Belfast occupies two former seed warehouses dating from the 1850s, a striking Grade A listed building with intricately carved stone façade. Inside, this unique structure’s oak beams and cast iron features have been retained to dramatic effect.
Malmaison Belfast is the group’s most intimate property, with just 64 guest rooms. The two Suites (named Samson and Goliath) are seriously rock ‘n’ roll, with free standing baths, gas fires, and even a purple-baize pool table in Samson.
The setting is reassuringly cosy, with glossy black floors and walls, dark wood tables, and deeply comfortable leather banquette seating, offset by flashes of claret-red decorative touches. A private dining room overlooking the bar provides more secluded space for entertaining.
The hotel’s striking black and silver bar is a seriously dramatic setting. Before sunset, it offers a soothing space for informal dining from the light menu. After dark, Belfast’s party scene gather to lap up tongue-tingling cocktails and seriously good champagne amidst its buzzy atmosphere.
